Day 16 · Curtain

Hotel rooms are a strange place. Hundreds of people have lived here before and in some sense you can still feel them all. This is especially true in old hotels with a long history, where you can imagine the late Emperor staying for the night, or at least somebody from his entourage.

Limit #16
Curtains Make For Soft Walls

In this kind of room it's quite common to find lots of decoration and most often there's a curtain, providing a feel of luxury. At close examination however you can see the imperfections and blemishes and dents previous guests and long years of operations have left, and some of the imagined glory disappears, leaving a feeling of emptiness, where richness was intended.

Just don't pull that rope... it is holding up the wall (groan - ha). :)

Lovely colour accents that are all connected with the gold frame, gold cord, and an impression of a similar colour from the background. A well-found graphic scene.

Pink would not be my first choice for my home but this combination looks pretty for a short stay. Interesting to see how the elements read like a horizontal list. Curtain, see through, wall and decoration.

Lovely warm color in this shot, as well as many different surfaces with different textures. I think you have managed very well in combining them into a pleasing whole. I also recognize what you wrote, and it adds context to the scene. There are very few hotels who can keep a spotless facade, though I have been fortunate enough to find a gold nugget or two like that.
